Overview
National multidisciplinary design firm is seeking a talented
Project Architect to join their San Francisco office.
Renowned for its expertise in science and technology projects, the
firm has spearheaded the design of cutting-edge environments across
various sectors including higher education, corporate, government,

The role necessitates exceptional communication, presentation, time
management, and interpersonal skills, as it entails collaborating
closely with the Senior Designer and Project Manager to develop
intricate design concepts tailored to meet client needs and
deadlines. With numerous opportunities for client engagement, the
position plays a pivotal role in upholding the team's commitment to
design excellence and quality across diverse project
typologies.
The firm has 11 offices all around the world focusing on
healthcare, arts and culture, community, corporate, education, and
government projects. Recently, the firm won the prestigious
American Architecture Award for Museums and Cultural Building,
along with IIDA Healthcare Design Award.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate a deep understanding of the project's design
philosophy and contribute significantly to the development of a
design and building performance strategy, effectively communicating
these concepts to team members when necessary.
- Provide technical design expertise and guidance throughout the
entire design process, overseeing the project's technical design
efforts, detailed design development, project coordination, and
quality control activities in close collaboration with the Senior
Designer.
- Innovate and explore creative solutions for assigned tasks,
conducting thorough research and documentation to support these
solutions effectively.
- Collaborate actively with consultants and knowledge resources,
coordinating their work to ensure project deliverables are
well-integrated, coordinated, and aligned with the project's design
concept and performance objectives.
- Contribute to the preparation of design documents and lead the
detailed development of construction documents across all project
phases, ensuring the delivery of accurate, complete, and
coordinated project documentation.
- Drive the production of schematic, design development, and
construction documents, ensuring compliance with project scope,
schedule, cost, and design intent.
- Stay abreast of emerging building technology and systems,
incorporating relevant advancements into project designs.
- Review shop drawings, material samples, and construction
documents for compliance with design specifications.
- Undertake construction administration responsibilities,
including managing requests for information (RFIs), requests for
proposals (RFPs), change orders, etc.
- Prepare reports, specifications, and other project-related
documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct agency review analysis (e.g., accessibility, zoning,
life safety) as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to establish the
architectural budget, task schedule, and other components of the
project work plan.
- Facilitate meetings, set meeting objectives, and provide
comprehensive meeting notes/documentation.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, consultants, and
contractors throughout all project phases, participating in
marketing efforts, client presentations, and owner meetings as
required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in architecture
- California licensure is required
- Experience in healthcare and/or Science + Technology projects
required, preferably in an academic healthcare setting
- This position requires 8-12 years' experience including working
on large-scale project types
- Ability to work with the regulations established by
California's HCAI group
- Strong graphics skills are essential
- Knowledge of Revit, 3D Max, SketchUp and other
industry-accepted software as well as expertise with project
management software and Microsoft Office Suite products is
needed
- LEED accreditation or Master's degree in Architecture is a
plus
